Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector (NGDS) is seeking a Budget Analyst to join the Sector Rates and Budgets Team.  This position reports directly to the DS Sector Manager, Rates and Budgets, and will be located in McLean, VA (may also consider full time telework). This role will be responsible for partnering with the Sector Leadership Team (SLT) with budget preparation, including monitoring and forecasting, accounting guidance, cost corrections and analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the monthly Sector level variance reports, including conducting research and analysis on variances, problem solving, and yearend forecasting
  • Responsible for establishing the SLT budgets as part of the annual FPRP, and conducting analysis and reviewing results with the SLT
  • Assisting with the annual FPRP submission, including providing Sector level pool schedules
  • Processing monthly JV’s ensuring that costs are recorded in accordance with disclosed practices
  • Responsible for partnering with the SLT on accounting issues, including charge numbers, charging guidance, IWO’s, cost corrections, etc.
  • Interacting with personnel and management at all levels

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have 7 years of related experience with High School diploma; Will consider: Bachelor’s Degree in business management or related field plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Evidence of ability to work independently and apply sound judgment to problem solving
  • Able to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines, and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels and functions within the organization
  • Strong excel skills
  • Experience with database reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using SAP
  • Prior knowledge of Indirect Rates

This position reports to McLean, VA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Fairfax, VA, VA, USA.


Salary Range: $56,300 USD - $92,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
