Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve as a Principal Graphic Artist (level 3) to join our diverse team of professionals located in Palmdale, Ca.

The Graphic Artist Conceives, designs, lays out, and coordinates editorial illustrations and creative artwork for publications such as magazines, brochures, handbooks, and posters, translating facts and features of subject material into graphic terms that best convey intended meaning. Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information. Creates graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions. Provides guidance on graphic technology. Works closely with internal company contacts to understand requirements and create cost efficient graphic designs through available mediums. May provide computer graphic services for web artwork. May also have responsibility or input on reproduction and printing processes through in-house resources or outside vendors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and at least 6 years of experience; 4  with Masters degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Computer Science, or related discipline. IN lieu of formal degree, High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least 10 years of relevant experience  

  • Must be experienced with Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and 2D/3D graphic utility software required.

  • Must have experienced with IsoDraw, CATIA V5, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D media development software (SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author/Right Hemisphere, 3D Studio Max, 3DVIA Composer, or Solidworks).

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance with investigation within past 6 years and able to maintain.

  • Must be able to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.

  • Must be able to work 2nd shift (4p - 2a)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in data development, electronic technical publications, training development, or technical graphic illustrations preferred.


Salary Range: $76,200 USD - $114,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
