Northrop Grumman Australia provides the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) with through-life support for its fleet of KC-30A Multi-role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft—a derivative of the Airbus A330-200. The platform is a trusted and proven asset and the program is continually growing in capability and expertise. 

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join the KC‑30A Engineering team based at RAAF Amberley. The Senior Reliability Engineer will work directly with the Principal Reliability Engineer and Reliability Analyst to identify and investigate KC-30A System Reliability degraders.

As part of the KC-30A RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) team, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a DASR compliant reliability program that monitors and analyses the effectiveness of the KC-30A Aircraft Maintenance Program. You will also be responsible for evaluating the Maintenance Program Optimisation and value for money initiatives with the objective of improved Availability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the regulatory compliance and effectiveness of the DASA Approved KC-30A Reliability Program
  • Analysis of data to determine indicators and measures such as MTBUR & MTBF.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for Industry recognised Reliability Engineering and analysis methods
  • Identify, Report & Investigate & Provide technical expertise and oversight of Reliability Degrader investigations
  • Carry out reliability investigations on critical RAM degraders.
  • Identify, recommend, maintain and update RAM analysis tools for the KC-30A program
  • Provide Reliability Engineering SME advice and continuous training to a broad range of KC-30A enterprise stakeholders
  • Analyse proposed changes to Maintenance Task Intervals to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the Aircraft Maintenance Program.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified (Mechanical, Aeronautical or similar relevant discipline)
  • Working knowledge of DASA/CASA Regulations 
  • Experienced in reliability monitoring and analysis methods
  • Experience in reliability investigation and reporting
  • Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance
     

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in Reliability Engineering across Defence or Aviation Platform.
  • Experience and understanding of RCM (MIL-STD-3034) or MSG-3 Maintenance Program Principles
  • DASR Part M Practitioner Course or equivalent Civil Regulations
  • DEFRELMAN Practitioner Course or equivalent experience
  • Experience in use of Reliability Analysis tools such as Reliasoft or RELEX
     

Note: As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian Citizens. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable, as such your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
