Salary: £67,000 - £100,000

Role Clearance Type: You must be able to gain and maintain UK Government clearance.

Location: Cheltenham House, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

About Your Opportunity:

Our focus is the successful delivery of projects to our customers and you will be responsible for enabling the conditions required for the National Security Solutions business unit to deliver its business effectively and efficiently. As a part of the NSS leadership team, you’ll work collaboratively with programmes and shared services across the organisation to facilitate smooth running operations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure key operating processes for operating NSS are high performing and clearly defined
  • Thatclear Terms of Reference are in place for management and review meetings and these are minuted and tracked
  • Responsible for establishing and tracking of key metrics (KPIs) to allow the leadership team to monitor the operational effectiveness of the Business Unit
  • Lead risk management within NSS, facilitating risk tracking and management of risks
  • Deliver effective resource management processes for NSS and strong utilisation in line with business plans; ensuring that resource workload forecasting is accurate and interfacing with HR and supply chain to ensure that vacancies are filled in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the business’s requirements are well understood by shared services and liaise across NSS to make priority calls appropriately / ensuring that those functions’ requirements on NSS are well understood.
  • Liaise with Enterprise Services to ensure that key audit and compliance actions are in place and appropriately owned within NSS
  • Accountable for the management and delivery of ‘special projects’ (e.g. facility exits / facility build outs / change programmes) recognising that the resources delivering these projects will be based within NSS and also within NGUK’s wider organisation
  • Accountable for liaising with the operating units to enable indirect investment (training / capital investment etc) to be deployed as effectively as possible in line with business needs.

Your Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in a management position within the defence and security industry
  • A proven leader, ideally within a matrix environment with experience of influencing senior peers. The ability to effectively navigate the matrix structure, working collaboratively with the appropriate stakeholders to bring about the effects desired is a critical skill in the successful execution of this role
  • Clearly demonstrable operational experience, objective setting and management, risk and opportunity management and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, so you can provide clear and concise messaging both externally to customers and internally within Northrop Grumman.
  • A collaborative individual with the confidence and integrity to earn stakeholders’ confidence.
  • Problem solving, influencing, negotiation and organisational skills
  • Adept at dealing with competing priorities and deadlines at a leadership level
