Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mission Assurance Manager 2 to lead a Quality and Mission Assurance team for the SHORAD Operating Unit (OU).  This position, located in Huntsville, AL, reports to the C4MD Business Unit MA Manager and dotted line to the OU Director.

The Mission Assurance Manager 2 will lead a Quality and Mission Assurance team to cover all quality and mission assurance activities in support of programs and proposal activities.  The manager will ensure that program performance, specifications, risks, products, suppliers, and processes are monitored, effective, and achieving program success and customer satisfaction.  The position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a “can do” attitude, and knowledge of Defense and Aerospace quality processes and requirements.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in mentoring and developing the skills of their teams, driving change across organizations, and be able to establish strong working relationships with suppliers, program leaders, and customer quality representatives.
  • Establish and maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and processes to ensure product performance, processes, and deliverables conform to requirements.
  • Engage in work activities to provide direct support, coaching and mentoring.  Provides performance reviews and periodic feedback for all direct reports.
  • Have strong hardware and product integration experience
  • Lead root cause and corrective action analyses (RCCA) for high impact issues and teaches/coaches/mentors in use of RCCA for lower-level issues.
  • Establish and manage performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement activities.
  • Develops and operates within departmental budgets for staffing, costs, and overhead

Key responsibilities include: Design and Drawing Quality Engineering, Deliverable Reviews, New Program/Project Proposals & BOE Development, New Program/Product MA Plans and Startup Reviews, Risk Management Support, Customer Support, Field Service, Testing, and Installation Support, AS9100 Certification Support, Internal Audits, Quality Notification & MRB Management, Supply Chain Quality Support, Manufacturing Quality and Inspection Support, Metrics/Data Analysis, Problem Solving, RCCA, Continuous Improvement, Staffing Management, CAM Support, and Quality Documentation Development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 9+ years minimum (or Master’s degree and 7+ years, PhD degree and 4+ years)
  • 3+ years of experience managing and/or leading quality teams or projects.
  • Excellent computer, written, and oral communications skills are a must.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. (US Citizenship required)
  • Ability to travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active secret security/DoD clearance
  • Defense and/or Aerospace Program, Supplier, and Manufacturing experience
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor
  • AS9102 expertise
  • SAP Quality Modules expertise
  • APQP/PPAP familiarity
  • Lean/Six Sigma trained/certified

Salary Range: $118,600 USD - $178,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
