Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer – VMware/Datacenter to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Huntsville is the position location.

Roles and responsibilities include:  

  • Perform as a Datacenter Systems Engineer that manages, developing, and maintaining secure operations of VMware hosts and VMs with minimal impact to engineering stakeholders 
  • Installing, hardening, and patching VMware Datacenters
  • Support the system design and operations of multi-user systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, desktop technicians, project managers, end users, Gov. customer and IT management.
  • Understand virtual networking concepts and be able to resolve and develop innovative virtual networking solutions
  • Effectively perform basic job functions with minimal management oversight
  • Clearly communicate and coordinate with stakeholders (end users, security, and management)
  • Maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
  • Install, configure, and maintain VM’s in an ESXi environment
  • Conform to security mandated approval and configuration management processes (Change Control Boards, Security Impact Analysis)
  • Perform technical research on Information Technology topics, as requested, and produce presentations and recommendations

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer level

Systems Engineer: 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline; Masters’ degree with 0 years experience

Principal Systems Engineer: 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor of Science in STEM discipline; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.

  • Active Secret Clearance from Department of Defense (DoD)
  • Established experience Managing multiple clusters/sites
  • Experience in scripting and interpreting shell scripts and ability to create scripts in bash

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a current Security+ certification
  • Implementation of Security controls for ESXi datacenters
  • Experience with PowerCLI

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
