Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to work with our talented Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team. This role will support the Systems Engineering Specialty organization in Huntsville providing deputy assistance to the Specialty Site Lead and support to the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects team. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Space System team supporting the Air Force’s Sentinel GBSD program. This will include development, production and deployment of Launch Equipment hardware and systems for each weapon system facility. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other engineers.

What you’ll get to do: 

Interface with inter-organizational management and external customers to communicate technical briefing and program status.

Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met; support program status efforts including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM) activities.

Support system requirements development, management, analysis, traceability, and allocation to lower-level requirements.

Assist with the generation of well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, and test and verification documents.

Support system/subsystems integration, test, and requirements verification activities.

Support the preparation of system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.

May act as coordinator of special projects, following up on pending details, coordinating activities, and ensuring deadlines are met.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

  • This role may be filled at higher level
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s (Sr Principal level requires 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s; or 4 years with PhD
  • Eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program Clearance
  • Experience with Agile systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience with schedule planning to program milestones and tracking performance
  • Must have proven experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion
  • Must have demonstrated experience in solving technical problems independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability in prioritizing multiple tasks and excellent organizational skills

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Demonstrated performance, people leadership and customer intimacy
  • Experience with ICBMs (MM, PK, Small Missile)
  • Experience using DOORS, CAMEO or Rhapsody
  • Experience working in Siemens NX CAD tool and Teamcenter CPLM.

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
