Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for a Principal Engineer Systems to join our Digital Engineering (DE) team of qualified, diverse individuals to support Digital Transformation (DT) within the Launch Vehicles (LV) business unit in Chandler, AZ.

The ideal candidate shall perform two main roles:

  • Digital Engineering/Transformation Committee Lead.

  • Digital Engineering Solution Point of Contact (PoC).

In this role, the candidate will work with a team to develop model-based solutions to support program execution and govern the uniformity and cohesion of User Experience and Documentation.

Digital Engineering/Transformation Committee Lead responsibilities includes:

  • Holding biweekly meetings with the committee to review submitted LV DT ideas submitted to the LV DT Jira.

  • Product Owner of the LV DT Steering .NET site.

  • Collaboration with the Ops Continuous Improvement team (ex: AR demo).

  • Collaboration with Ops DT to discuss various Manufacturing DT opportunities (ex: Model/Drawing Integration, Electronic Procedures, Ops Digital Thread, etc.).

  • Collaboration with LV Direction of the VR lab.

  • Collaboration with LMDS DT, consisting of:

    • Weekly tag ups with LMDS Business Unit DT Leads to discuss division strategy and collaboration.

    • Monthly status updates for various DE DT Activities (REMIX, SHASaM, etc.).

Digital Engineering Solution Point of Contact:

  • DET Solution PoC

    • Serve as a PoC for various internal customers interested in DET solutions. POCs for “whole DET solution” capabilities:

      • MBSE and MDAO integration on multiple programs.

      • General DE inquiry on ASOTs and the logic behind the DETs team for choosing various ASOTs (i.e DOORs for Reqs etc.)

      • Possible Funding opportunities for discovery activities for DET.

      • Working with DTO DevOps Solution team, to drive interest in our approaches for DevOps outside of software domain (CDRL factory, MaaS, etc.)

  • MBSE Solution PoC

    • Serve as MBSE SME; working with programs to develop modeling direction and mentoring.

    • Consultant between MBS team and REMIX team, to develop modeling views that communicate the structure of MBS constructs so the REMIX team can develop new capabilities more effectively.

    • Consultant for Business Development programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering degree plus 5 years of experience; Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience; PhD plus 0 years of experience

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Experience with MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler.

  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML).

  • Experience with HTML, Python, and/or JavaScript.

  • Able to work onsite at the Chandler, AZ facility.

Preferred, but not Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile Framework.

  • Experience with Jira.

  • Experience with Confluence.

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
