Northrop Grumman Payload & Ground Systems in Azusa, CA is seeking a Principal (Level 3) or Sr. Principal (Level 4) Mission Assurance Quality Engineer. This role will be fully on-site at our Azusa, CA campus.

The mission Assurance Engineer defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. This role must have knowledge and experience in Aerospace Quality Assurance principles and practices in a Space Environment including: program quality engineering, manufacturing, assembly, integration, functional and environmental testing, receiving inspection, supplier quality systems, workmanship inspections and audits. This position shall provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems and have complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Candidate shall have experience in controlling: Non-Conforming hardware and associated material review board practices, 6 Sigma, Lean and be familiar with SAP. Preferred to have experience with auditing for ISO-9002 / AS-9100 compliance, Root Cause analysis and Continuous Improvement. Defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance

Basic Qualifications: (Principal Level 3)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM Field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) & 5 years of related technical engineering experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field & 3 years of related technical engineering experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing processes
  • Ability to travel to customer facility at least 10% of the time
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD secret security clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Basic Qualifications: (Sr. Principal Level 4)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM Field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) & 9 years of related technical engineering experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field & 7 years of related technical engineering experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing processes
  • Ability to travel to customer facility at least 10% of the time
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD secret security clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree with 9+ years’ experience in Quality / Mission Assurance with Space Systems / Hardware
  • Current & active DoD security clearance
  • Familiar with VoC and capable of interfacing with DCMA and external customers
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Ability to use Minitab, MS Project
  • Black Belt / Green Belt Certified
  • AS9100 / ISO 9000 Auditor

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
