Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) in Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Staff Modeling and Simulation Engineer w/ Active Clearance to join our diverse and talented team in Northridge, CA.

The selected candidate is required to work on-site and does not allow for remote work. Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.


• Staff Engineer System Modeling & Simulation and Sensor technical lead for Advanced Programs for RF system applications in missile systems

• Develops new and/or integrates existing system performance models, algorithms, and command modes for sensor systems.

• Simulates real-time sensor operations and develops algorithms for implementation in embedded software.

• Uses advanced visualization tools to analyze sensor data as needed.

• Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.

• Experience with missile terminal phase CONOPS/CONEMP

• Model RF systems for missile targeting
• System Engineering (SE) foundations, including requirements decomposition and subsystem interdependencies at the RF subsystem level

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops new and/or integrates existing RF subsystem simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.

• Simulates real-time operations and develops software that simulates behavior of RF subsystems.

• Models operational environments, mission effectiveness, and performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative RF architectures.

• Implement, test and verify RF system algorithms and designs for Advanced Programs for missile applications
• Develop and define CONOPS/CONEMP for terminal phase missile systems
• Interact with senior engineering personnel on technical matters
• Analyze RF system test data
• Coordinate issue resolution between various engineering disciplines
• Independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments

• Innovative problem solver
• SE requirements decomposition to lower level assemblies, especially RF systems
• SE identify/document system/subsystem interdependencies for RF subsystems

Basic Qualifications:
• BS Engineering or Physics degree and at least 14 years’ experience; or an MS Engineering or Physics degree and at least 12 years' experience; or PhD in Engineering or Physics and at least 9 years' experience 

• Excellent understanding of radar or RF systems and their operation and application

• Have DoD Secret security clearance and within 5 years of previous investigation; must be US citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
• Skills in programming: MATLAB or Python, C++

Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
