Staff Systems Engineer / Analyst – USAF SiAW Missile Program on System Development **CURRENT/ACTIVE CLEARANCE REQUIRED** 

We are currently seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support the systems engineering efforts on one of our missile products and work with our talented Advanced Weapons team in Northridge, CA. 

The candidate, as the Staff Systems Engineer, will support the Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead on the systems engineering efforts for architecting, developing, testing, and selling off our Stand-in Attack Weapon missile system.  The ideal candidate will have experience in system-level trade studies, system performance evaluation relevant for CONOP, subsystem allocation for optimal system capabilities. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects to leverage on existing technology and new upgrades as well as working with the program team to innovate system architecture and system decisions to adapt to a competitive procurement environment and customer’s needs.

In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):

  • Evaluate customer requirements, CONOPS, and systems requirements for system-level trade studies to maximize capabilities and feasibility within scope, schedule, and cost
  • Perform functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance
  • Support the Systems Engineering IPT Lead on defining systems engineering tasks derived from trade study options.
  • Support the system design and development in any of the following areas:
  • System Performance, Interface, and functionality
  • Reliability, maintainability, and supportability
  • System Safety
  • Producibility
  • Program protection
  • Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
  • Support the effort of system/subsystems integration, test, and requirements verification activities
  • Support the tracking of system technical performance measurements inclusive of those related to lethality, survivability, reliability, maintainability, supportability, safety, and program protection
  • Generate well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents
  • Perform systems engineering tasks and collaborate cross-functionally/IPTs in an Agile and Digital Environment
  • Collaborate with customer counterparts regarding the systems engineering process, systems engineering artifacts, planning for Phase 2 flight test, and development of the SiAW mission planning capability
  • Support system engineering materials during Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed

Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

This position is contingent upon available funding/program award.

The selected candidate for this position is required to be on-site in Northridge, CA. 

Basic qualifications:

  • Current Active Secret clearance or higher with a Periodic Reinvestigation within the last 5 years.
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of five (14) years of systems engineering experience
  • Extensive experience in system-level trade studies on performance, architecture, subsystems
  • Experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
  • Experience in the defense industry or weapon systems
  • Experience in developing advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product
  • Experience in systems engineering process across all phases of a program lifecycle
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in missile products/systems or related products
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tool, e.g., DOORS
  • Experience with Agile Program/Project Planning and Management
  • Experience with Digital Engineering
  • Experience in proposal process, writing BOEs, proposal technical volumes for defense contracts

Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
