Northrop Grumman is one of the industry leaders in Stealth Technology. As such, we are involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms.  We are currently looking for experienced Low Observable / Radar Cross Section (RCS) /Survivability Engineers to work on exciting and challenging projects.

This position may be filled at either the Principal Survivability Engineer or the Sr Principal Survivability Engineer

Essential Duties for Survivability Analysist:

  • Perform system analysis, operations analysis and trade study activities to include military requirements analysis, threat system analysis, system survivability analysis, mission performance/effectiveness analysis, and military utility analysis
  • Create new and adapt existing models, methods, and analysis capabilities to conduct studies to support the design, development, and assessment of advanced system design concepts and technologies
  • Provide blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis support to accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects
  • Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. Ensure performance of new capabilities are traded against cost and mission requirements; develop mission relevant scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging capabilities in representative operational environments
  • Communicate across the engineering disciplines and technology areas to integrate capabilities, and communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers


Preferred Candidate Will Poses the Following:

  • Proficiency in and/or technical understanding of survivability and operational analysis frameworks and models, such as AFSIM and Suppressor
  • Proficiency the following: MATLAB, Perl, Python, C# or C/C++, FORTRAN, or other programming languages
  • Experience with multi-fidelity MS&A tools for modeling and assessments
  • Expertise in US tactics, techniques, technologies, and procedures
  • Experience working directly with USG personnel at USG facilities
  • Experience leading projects through the system engineering lifecycle
  • Experience briefing analysis models, methodologies and results to senior leadership
  • Technical leadership experience, translating stakeholder or customer requirements into executable project plans and managing to successful completion
  • An active U.S. Government issued DoD Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain SAP/SAR clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain SAP/SAR clearance
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Modeling and Simulation of
  • Radars
  • Missiles
  • Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS)
  • Air and/or Space platforms
  • - Analysis at the Survivability, Engagement, and/or Mission Level
  • - Low Observables (LO)
  • - Infrared (IR)/Electro-Optical (EO)/Acoustic Modeling/Analysis
  • - Electronic Warfare (EW)
  • Effective project management skills and good communication
  • Ability to work independently and as a valuable team member

Required Experience and Education:

  • Principal Survivability Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree AND 3 years of related professional/military engineering experience 

OR

  • Sr Principal Survivability Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military engineering experience. 

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

This position reports to Palmdale, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Oklahoma City, OK, OK, USA.


Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $123,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
