The SSSD Strategic Products team is sourcing a Common Products Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) Manager 3 position to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California. 


The Common Products IPTL will be responsible for all aspects of people leadership, strategic vision, and execution for the Common Products organization.   


The Common Products IPTL will: 


  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of 60+ equivalent heads across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering disciplines who develop discriminating spacecraft and payload products with cross-cutting program application 

  • Develop robust internal and external customer relationships as a trusted partner who collaborates early and often through the program lifecycle  

  • Solicit business needs which translate to successful common product development and adoption 

  • Drive common product and process improvements which improve affordability and increased speed of execution  

  • Engage as a process owner who exercises sound judgement in applying, tailoring, and improving processes that enable efficient program execution 

  • Lead program Design Reviews, Independent Review Boards, Tiger Teams, Root Cause & Corrective Action investigations, and other milestone reviews 

  • Develop, set, and implement vision and strategies to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent to common product activities 

  • Develop and maintain staffing forecasts based on known backlog and anticipated new business 

  • Develop and track key measures of success and health for the common products organization, and implement corrective actions where needed 

  • Generate, review, and/or approve proposal inputs including cost, schedule, and technical volumes which accurately estimate the work to be performed while balancing execution and risk 

  • Judiciously and effectively manage associated indirect and capital budgets to maximize return on investment 


Basic Qualifications 

  • B.S. in STEM discipline from an ABET accredited university with nine (9) years of engineering professional experience; OR M.S degree in STEM discipline from an ABET accredited university with seven (7) years of engineering professional experience; OR PhD in STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with four (4) years of engineering professional experience 

  • 4 years of project management experience 

  • Experience with space payload or space vehicle product development 

  • Experience with Earned Value Management System practices 

  • Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years, OR an active U.S. Government SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, OR a Department of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in STEM discipline from an ABET accredited university 

  • Experience reducing time to market for new product development 

  • Experience reducing product cost on a recurring basis  

  • Experience with Lean-Agile practices or Digital Transformation 


Salary Range: $176,100 USD - $264,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
