Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

The selected candidate will assume an IFC lead role as part of the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team on the RQ-4 Enterprise. As part of day-to-day operations, the selected candidate will interface with various engineering functions and suppliers both internal and external to Northrop Grumman.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with IPTs to develop and execute program IFC plans and metrics
  • Manage project execution rhythm, coordination, and reporting activities
  • Manage supplier activities and serve as primary project POC to customers and key suppliers
  • Technical liaison to the cross-functional team
  • Familiarity and understanding of system requirements (validation and verification) and interface control documents (ICDs), and statements of work (SOW)
  • Familiarity with JIRA software tool (and/or similar) for issue tracking and resolution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of engineering experience; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of engineering experience; PhD degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of engineering experience
  • An active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) process
  • Strong leadership, excellent communication, and strong presentation skills


Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
