The Counter Comms operating unit is seeking an experience software/systems engineer with a background in signal processing. You will have the opportunity to work on the JCREW program, enabling our war fighters by developing cutting edge counter UAS and counter IED techniques.

What We Need and What You’ll Get to Do:

You will be part of a team developing and implementing signal processing algorithms to detect and defeat UAS and radio controlled IED threats. Working in a multidisciplinary team of DSP, software, and firmware engineers, you will be developing and porting high level signal processing algorithms from MATLAB to C/C++ to run on a custom software defined radio.

This is a great opportunity for a flexible self-starter to work in a dynamic environment with real world technical content supporting a number of tools and systems. Plenty of opportunity for career advancement into technical leadership positions.

Basic Qualifications for Staff Engineer Systems:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 14 years of experience in engineering; OR a Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of experience in engineering
  • Strong mathematical background with a basic understanding of digital signal processing techniques such as mixing, filtering and down sampling
  • Proficiency with Git, MATLAB, C++
  • Basic understanding of communications and signal processing and the concepts associated with software defined radio
  • Capable of performing engineering analysis, design, implementation, testing and troubleshooting associated with embedded software defined radio platforms
  • Coding experience in C++/C in a Linux development environment.
  • Active secret security clearance required to start. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communications theory knowledge, modem design experience, knowledge of software defined radio architecture
  • Experience implementing signal processing algorithms for electronic warfare applications
  • Knowledge of object oriented design, software lifecycles and modern day software development practices. Capable of maintaining the stability of large code bases and modernizing legacy systems.
  • Exposure to Agile practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skill set and capable of debugging complex systems and problems.

Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
