Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO and will support an IRAD program for a physics-based simulation environment focused on satellite operations.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Develop space system architecture models using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Derive, allocate, update, and maintain requirements and specifications
  • Research other modeling and simulation (M&S) systems to define a future integration solution
  • Define high-level ConOps that provides a representation of a future integration solution
  • Support cost estimation to perform future integration solutions
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, development, test, operation, and maintenance.
  • Maintain design documentation
  • Work with orbital dynamics; guidance, navigation, and control.

Required qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at Systems Engineer level (T02) or Principal Systems Engineer Level

(T03)

  • Systems Engineer (T02) requires a minimum 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 0 years with Masters in Science degree
  • Principal Systems Engineer (T03) requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master in Science or 0 years with a PhD
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and process
  • Experience in Cameo EA including logical, physical, and functional architecture
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team: software engineers, orbital analysts and test engineers
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with current or active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Desired qualifications:

  • Current or active Top-Secret Clearance with Special Access Program
  • Prior experience with RPO, Satellite Ground Station Software, Distributed M&S, and/or wargaming
  • Experience in deriving, allocating, updating, and maintaining requirements
  • Experience in ConOps development
  • Experience in Python
  • Experience in Agile Development
  • Experience working in an Agile Team

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
