Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for an innovative problem-solver to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals as a Staff Structural Analysis Engineer (airframe analysis) on our Digital Pathfinder program. In this unique role, you will have the opportunity to innovate processes and methods to reduce churn during the design process.

This position is located in Melbourne, Florida. Relocation assistance is available.

Essential functions:

  • Performs static structural analyses of metallic and composite airframe structure, mechanical systems, and equipment, by hand and by using the automated methods and procedures approved for the Digital Pathfinder Program

  • Ensures that NGC AS is prepared for purely digital manufacturing and certification by developing a one-off aircraft in conjunction with Scaled Composites

  • The analyst will look for opportunities to innovate processes and methods to reduce churn during the design process

  • May also be expected to derive non-flight applied loads, create, extract and distribute internal loads, and perform weight and stiffness optimization

  • Tools utilized may include NX and NX CAE and other software applications

  • Mentors less experience engineers

  • Must be willing to work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 14+ years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a Master of Science degree and 12+ years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a Ph.D. and 9+ years of related professional/military experience in Engineering

  • Must have practical applied understanding of composite and metal airframe structures

  • Must have experience with finite element analysis and classical hand stress calculations

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with random vibration analysis and Miles' equation

  • Experience with tube and piping analysis methods and tools

  • Experience with NX CAE

  • Agile experience

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment

  • Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously

  • Proven ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

  • Leadership or mentorship experience

Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
