Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a System Test Section Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our System Integration, Test and Evaluation (SIT&E) Organization. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, Florida.

The Section Manager will be working closely with the Department Manager and fellow Section Managers to implement department initiatives, ensuring successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities and collaborating with programs to satisfy staffing needs and providing operations support. Additionally, the manager serves as liaison between SIT&E and its internal and external customers.  You will manage a dynamic team of 10 to 18 engineers executing system test throughout the lifecycle of an IFC (Integrated Functional Capability).

Key Responsibilities:
•    Functional responsibilities
o    Support the annual salary review and promotion process.
o    Mentor and develop the next generation of technical and project leadership.
o    Improve and enforce engineering processes and procedures.
o    Maintain Team’s staffing by conducting interviews and selecting the best candidate for the job.
•    Technical responsibilities:
o    Track, analyze and report on Laboratory Test teams cost, schedule and project performance.
o    Responsible for day-to-day operations required to run a high-performance development team of engineers.
o    Assess productivity, goals, objectives and customer satisfaction and manage all aspects of their test team’s development.
o    Provide timely resource forecasts to IPT/functional organizations and assures proper staffing is in place to execute the SOW, while maintaining an integrated schedule.
o    Drive process rigor and ensure compliance to meet company, program and security requirements.
o    Ensure successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities.

Basic Qualifications:    

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 7 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master’s degree AND 5 years of related professional/military experience.
  • 2 Years of prior leadership/management experience
  • Must have an active DoD secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment

Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Experience in several of the following areas: Systems development experience; Knowledge of architectures, Communications, Data links, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, experience with instrumentation systems, Cloud Development, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) Simulations, and/or Automation
  • Master Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management or MBA
  • Experience leading an Agile development Software team
  • Extensive knowledge of SIT&E processes, procedures and work instructions required to support both management and engineering tasks at the Melbourne site
  • Current DoD Top Secret/SCI level security clearance
  • Current Program Access
  • Automated Test Experience
  • Cost Account Management experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
