Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring an Avionics Integration - East Department Manager 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, FL

This leader will be responsible for leading approximately 100 employees in the Avionics Integration organization.  This leader will be championing diversity, equity and inclusion to foster a high-performing, motivated and engaged culture, and managing the processes and tools used by Avionics Integration to ensure the engineers are trained, equipped, and empowered to support Aeronautic Systems programs and captures as well as other efforts. The Avionics Integration team is responsible for product development oversight and integration in the following areas: electronics design and fabrication, assembly and test; ground electronics, communications and mission payloads, antenna, lasers and sensors, weapons payloads.

This position will report to the Director of Avionics Integration and will be a key member of the Avionics Integration leadership team.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding skill demands to support multiple divisions and programs, 
  • Developing strategies to meet current and future skills needs for the department 
  • Incorporating initiatives and best practices to improve performance
  • Incorporating strategies to help develop critical skills.
  • Providing leadership, shaping the Avionics Integration - West strategic vision and direction, as well as providing oversight of all major functions within the organization.
  • Define training and development plans for both existing and incoming employees in the department and foster a culture of learning that includes active mentoring and knowledge sharing within the organization
  • Drive improved employee engagement and appreciation through verbal, written, and tangible recognition, events, and personal interactions
  • Act as a contributor to the Avionics Integration Community of Practice (CoP), contributing to individual CoP and sub-CoP strategies, training and development requirements, and process and tools management plans and budgets
  • Equitably manage the yearly cycles for promotions, merits, and bonuses that affordably balances the experience base across the organization, and achieve retention objectives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 9 years of engineering experience
  • 7 years of combined technical and management experience
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional Special Access Program (SAP) clearance 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Prior functional management Experience
  • Significant Engineering Management Experience
  • Proven ability to provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to direct reports
  • Current Special Access Program (SAP) access 
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
