We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr Principal Systems Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. As a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr Principal Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

What You’ll get to Do:

Rolling Meadows Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) – Product Support is looking for an Engineering Laboratory Technical Lead.  This position is a leadership role that requires technical understanding and experience in design, analysis, integration & test, and anomaly investigation in a broad range of technologies. The position requires coordination with multi-discipline functions to ensure that the SIL/Lab test environments are operational and fully compliant. Specific assignments include troubleshooting to support anomaly resolution, maintaining configuration control of laboratories, support to the laboratory user community, development of SIL roadmaps, and leading lab upgrade capital projects. Additional responsibilities include electrical design analysis, deriving Special Test Equipment (STE) design requirements from system requirements, trade studies, preparing and performing design reviews, laboratory and hardware design analysis, and developing test drawings/documents. 


• Ensure functional operation of engineering tools, equipment, and test systems for all Engineering SILs and Labs
• Configuration Management of all SILs, to include hardware, software, tools, and documentation
• Provide technical support to user community
• Maintain high-level functional and performance requirements
• Maintain equipment/SIL certifications (validation), develop test plans and procedures as needed
• Identify capability enhancement opportunities and implement solutions, including championing capital projects as necessary
• Maintain Capacity Analysis for all product lines
• Knowledge transfer debugging skillset to Electronic Technicians

Basic Qualifications: 

This position may be filled as a Principal Systems Engineer or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

• Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of experience: or Master of Science degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of experience

• Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field with 9+ years of experience; or Master of Science degree in a STEM field with 7+ years of experience

• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environment
• Prior experience operating in a laboratory environment

• Strong analytical skills with an understanding of circuit design theory and troubleshooting experience

• Understanding of networking, software principles, and some level of programing experience
• U.S. citizen
• Ability to obtain an interim Secret Security Clearance and maintain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical leadership experience (Integrated Product Team Lead, Systems Engineering Lead, Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Integration & Test Lead, etc.)
• Prior experience working for a Department of Defense contractor

• Prior experience programming in Python, and/or Java
• Active Secret (or higher) security clearance


Salary Range: $90,600 USD - $136,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,300 USD - $168,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
