We are looking for a Signal and Power Integrity Engineer to join an industry leading signaling development and analysis team at Northrop Grumman. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector delivers a decisive advantage to its customers through software-defined, hardware-enabled solutions.

The Electrical Assembly Design & Verification section in Linthicum, MD enables these hardware solutions by providing RF microwave and mixed signal architecture, design, verification, and support expertise across a wide variety electronic sensor products. Our engineers work on complex, leading edge, high reliability electronics supporting maritime, ground, airborne, and space platforms.

You will be responsible for high-speed serial interface signal integrity and power integrity analysis. This position will enable you to experience technology development from inception to production. You will work side by side with industry experts and leaders in high-speed signal and power integrity. You will also work to develop next generation technology.

This position is located in Linthicum, MD with easy access to the major cities of Baltimore to the north and Washington DC to the south. The location is a 2-hour drive to the Atlantic Ocean to the east or the Appalachian Mountains to the north and west. The area is rich with activities including historical sites, museums, concerts and performing arts venues, college and professional sports, nightlife, and many outdoor activities most notably boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding rivers. The Linthicum campus includes the potential to live in urban, suburban, and waterfront communities within easy commutes and is conveniently located adjacent to the BWI International Airport and an Amtrak rail station.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering or related STEM field degree: Bachelor of Science with 2+ years of RF/microwave experience or Master’s degree

  • US Citizenship is required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

  • 2+ years of applicable experience in the following areas:

    • Transmission line theory and electromagnetic field concepts

    • High-speed digital interconnect design and analysis concepts, such as PCIe, DDR

    • Lab equipment such as Oscilloscope, Time Domain Reflectometry Module (TDR), or Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)

    • Experience with analysis tools: HFSS, ADS, and cadence Allegro/Mentor Graphics

    • Experience with silicon device modeling methods, which may include IBIS, AMI, or Verilog-A

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Aerospace or Defense Industry

  • Experience with signal integrity simulation tools, which may include Hyperlynx, Sigma or HSpice

  • Experience with PCB layout concepts, which may include familiarity with tools such as Xpedition, Cadence, or Mentor

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Matlab, Simulink, Perl, or Python

  • Experience with 2D/3D field solver tools, which may include Genesys, HFSS, or Power SI

  • Perform signal / power integrity design, simulation, and analysis of microelectronic assemblies and their constituent parts including multiple die/interposers, Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) substrates, printed-wiring-boards, packages, and materials

  • Development and quantification of signal and power integrity performance requirements, time-domain circuit analysis, SYZ-parameter modeling and analysis, Power Distribution Network (PDN) decoupling, IR drop, and current density analysis

Salary Range: $78,600 USD - $118,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
