Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Staff (T5) Manufacturing Equipment Systems Engineer for our Manufacturing organization.

The ideal candidate will have hands on experience implementing professional maintenance effort across a wide range of equipment in a High-Mix manufacturing environment.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement a Professional Maintenance plan at a high mix manufacturing facility in order to improve equipment productivity, enhance process yield, reduce Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and improve Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) 
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems maintenance
  • Research, design, develop, and test a variety of enhancements related to electronic mechanical equipment including process equipment; circuitry components automation systems; control robots and test equipment
  • Partner with area technical organizations, OEM vendors, and automation teams to define, refine, and implement processes to eliminate unplanned downtime
  • Optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) using data driven and machine learning methods
  • Train and coach Lean-Six Sigma, Planned Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance
  • Establish and implement an active spare part strategy
  • Provide guidance and leadership on technical solutions, drawings, and electrical diagrams
  • Develop software code and provide guidance for total maintenance

The chosen candidate must have excellent communication skills, and must be organized, flexible, and able to multitask in a dynamic team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 14+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading projects in a multi-discipline organization
  • Proven ability to perform problem analysis and resolution using lean and continuous improvement tools
  • Working knowledge of test and process equipment design, maintenance and repair
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience leading and rolling out Professional Maintenance or Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) optimization
  • Experience setting up and maintaining a large-scale High-Mix manufacturing or test factory within a semiconductor or electromechanical manufacturing environment
  • Hands on experience developing and modifying OEM software structure, database algorithms and machine systems
  • Lean and Six sigma experience with BlackBelt or Lean Expert training
  • Familiar with key coding methods using such as Python, Java, MATLAB, C++/C, SQL, SAP
  • Experience working and leading in a union environment
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance


Salary Range: $153,600 USD - $230,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
