Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to join our Quality and Mission Excellence Compliance team of qualified, diverse individuals located at our BWI campus in Baltimore, MD.

The Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Confidently facilitates efforts to resolve complex quality problems using sound problem-solving methodology – including application of established root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methods
  • Leads efforts to identify and reduce quality and business risks through application of formal and informal methods
  • Leads efforts to reduce waste and improve processes through application of established continual improvement methods
  • Engages as required in shop floor activities across manufacturing cells – including monitoring of manufacturing processes, leading quality assessments and audits, and identification of non-conformances
  • Facilitates Preventive & Corrective Action Board (PCAB) process – including participating in data gathering, analysis, and presentation activities
  • Promotes and implements World Class Manufacturing (WCM) framework
  • Serves as a “strong voice for quality” and a role model for NG Values
  • Serves as a Quality Engineering liaison for adjacent Quality functions – including Supplier Performance Management, Program/Factory Quality, and Inspection
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field
  • Relevant experience of 5+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 3+ Years with Masters; 0+ Years with PhD
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, US citizenship
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
  • Foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence or Manufacturing applications
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and auditing (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with GIDEP/Sentinel Process

Salary Range: $90,600 USD - $136,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
