Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Associate Hardware Test Engineer/ Hardware Test Engineer to join our Advanced Secure Processing Operating Unit in Baltimore, MD.  This team produces cutting edge technology that protects mission critical information for various industry partners and government customers. 

The Engineer will support a product line of several programs and be part of the technical production team to produce deliverable hardware and software to meet contractual deliveries. This engineer will work largely in a classified environment to support ramp up production efforts due to increased business growth in the area. To successfully accomplish this goal, the Engineer will work closely with a team of systems engineers, operations project managers, technicians, and manufacturing organizations to process product through classified operations, address in-line issues, offer solutions, and keep production moving forward.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Process Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) products through classified Linux-based systems and special test equipment given defined work instructions
  • Conduct hands-on testing and troubleshooting, analysis of failure trends and root cause/ corrective actions
  • Address and provide support to technicians working on production processes
  • Check work in progress (WIP) in SAP to determine products to progress through production on a day to day basis, taking priority direction from the program management team or chief production engineer
  • Support the chief production engineer on process improvement activities
  • Contribute towards process documentation and refinement as necessary
  • Attend weekly technical production meetings for status on work progress

This position is a great fit for someone with a solid troubleshooting mentality; who can read and understand board level electrical schematics; enjoys working in a team environment; and can effectively communicate issues and project progress. 

This position may be filled as an Associate Hardware Test Engineer or a Hardware Test Engineer based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Hardware Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or related STEM field
  • Current, active Department of Defense Secret Clearance
  • Experience with hardware/software interactions

Basic Qualifications for a Hardware Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or related STEM field plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in an Engineering discipline or related STEM field plus 0 years of experience.
  • Current, active Department of Defense Secret Clearance
  • Experience with hardware/software interactions

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Proficiency in Linux Operating Systems  
  • Previous work with CCA Board design/troubleshooting
  • Experience with troubleshooting test detractors
  • Experience with JTAG/Serial/Ethernet communications
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Bash scripting

Salary Range: $67,000 USD - $100,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $81,000 USD - $121,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
