Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Software Architecture Lead for the Computer Systems & Software Architecture Model (CSSAM).  This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • This role will lead a small team of software engineers who will software engineering products and modeling governance from Preliminary Design phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond.
  • The role includes leading a team performing a fully immersed Model Based Engineering approach to software engineering as well as performing the hands-on work.
  • Individual will be responsible for the CSSAM and Unified Modeling Language (UML) governance and guidance to a large, distributed software team developing the software design and capabilities for the GBSD program.
  • Individual will be the primary point of contact (POC) to the US Air Force (USAF) Software Architecture Office (SAO) and supporting organizations for the development activities for the CSSAM.
  • This role involves collaboration and responsibility across multiple organizations to ensure the CSSAM Software Architecture & Design products successfully meet key program milestone objectives, software deliverables, and the statement of work.
  • This role involves working with various certification authorities (e.g. Nuclear Surety, Cybersecurity, Safety) to ensure the CSSAM Software Architecture & Design products support key program certification reviews.
  • Individual will be responsible for validating CSSAM Software Architecture & Design products meet CSSAM model governance rules and properly flow-down from systems engineering products to the software design and implementation
  • Individual will have the opportunity of leading a team in a highly dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  


Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 14 years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance (adjudicated within the past 5 years) with ability to obtain/retain TS clearance and PAR within 365 days from submission.
  • Hands on software engineering, design, and development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with MBE having implemented software architecture and design definition using such tools as MagicDraw (Cameo Enterprise Architect), IBM Rhapsody, etc.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity or experience with MagicDraw / Cameo EA
  • Familiarity or experience with IBM Rhapsody
  • Familiarity or expertise in DOORS requirements management tool
  • Experience developing ICDs and defining software interfaces in an MBSE environment
  • Ability to develop software tools & scripts to automate model validation, synchronization, etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile team or even leading a scrum team
  • Understanding of the following specialty areas: nuclear surety, cybersecurity, safety
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Active Top Secret security clearance

This position reports to Roy, UT, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Huntsville, AL, AL, USA.

Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
