Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Principal Test Engineer for the inertial measurement system (IMU) for the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible to develop and maintain manufacturing test procedures (MTP) and acceptance test procedures (ATP) for various IMU assemblies
  • Develop and maintain acceptance test procedures (ATP)
  • Develop or assist in the development of test equipment and fixturing
  • Ensure subassembly level performance requirements are achieved through test processes
  • Perform data analysis of test results
  • Train and support test technicians
  • Assist in the development of factory test equipment and factory test equipment software
  • Assist in the development of factory test tooling and develop test flows
  • Participate in failure review boards (FRB) and closed loop failure reporting and corrective actions (FRACAS)
  • Effectively work in technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks, shifting priorities and quick responses.

Basic Qualification:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Disciplined to follow detailed instructions and comply with procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to create clear and understandable planning for operators
  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Siemens NX 3D modeling system or Solidworks
  • Working understanding and experience working with Navigation and Inertial Measurement Systems
  • Experience with test equipment, test procedures and test execution
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry with strict customer/process requirements
  • Experience working in an AS9100 manufacturing and quality environment
  • Ability to function as self-starter
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Sound understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Familiarity with test requirement identification and evaluation
  • Proficient in Matlab, Excel, Access, Labview, and other common software applications
  • Experience with analysis and interpretation of large data sets

Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
