Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Lead / Chief Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Where will you find innovation and technology?  Right here at Northrop Grumman Corporation.  The qualified applicant will join the Maritime Systems & Products organization supporting the team to lead engineering activities for various programs located in Charlottesville, VA. We are seeking an applicant who is excited by the prospect of leading the engineering content of our programs.  As a member of our collaborative team, you will join us in leading a dedicated and extremely talented group of professionals as we accomplish phenomenal work together.

The SEIT Lead is the single point of contact for all aspects of engineering execution. The SEIT Lead responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees and manages the engineering design, development of software, systems, and hardware engineering.
  • Drives the engineering process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their programs.
  • Serves as the engineering project team liaison to program management, customers, operations, and other functional groups.
  • Manages risks and opportunities for all engineering scope.
  • Collaborates with all functional organizations to resolve engineering conflicts.
  • Communicates regularly with program management, customers, and engineering management.
  • Owns overall quality, technical, budget, and schedule responsibility for the engineering content of assigned programs.
  • The successful candidate will be well versed in the systems engineering discipline and have a keen interest in working in the maritime domain.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BS in Engineering, Computer science, or related field with 9 years relevant experience or Master’s degree with 7 years relevant experience
  • Technical or military leadership experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply varied technologies.
  • Ability to perform as liaison to the customer for all engineering efforts.
  • Proven collaborator working in a team environment.
  • US Citizen capable of obtaining a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nine+ (9) years of demonstrated technical leadership experience
  • Experience as an IPT lead or functional lead
  • Program/Project Management experience
  • Familiar with project and analysis tools, MATLAB, Rational DOORS, Camel, Jira, or similar
  • Experience managing an engineering team using EVMS, IMS (Integrated Master Schedule) and/or other techniques
  • Experience with DoD Programs, US Navy, or US Coast Guard programs

Understanding of Agile development and Digital Transformation


Salary Range: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
