Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Dulles, VA,  and will support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. You will be the Product Owner (PO) for the three System Engineering thread teams.  As a PO, you will drive value and timely delivery of System Engineering products, solutions, and services. Along with the thread leads, you will also coordinate the various internal program and external task order contributors to execute on the system capability’s decomposition, implementation, and verification processes.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Manage the Feature backlog of all the SE Kanban teams

  • Work with customers and stakeholders to refine and prioritize the backlogs

  • Provide “product line” perspective to thread teams

  • Coordinate thread team activities across all threads and other functional groups across the broader organization along with the System Architect

  • Track/manage risks, dependencies, and feature commitments for all thread teams

  • Remove impediments along with the Scrum Master

  • Assist in scheduling internal program and external task order reviews for capability decomposition and verification signoff activities

  • Support the maintenance and execution of internal program system engineering process

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Science or related technical field and at least 14 years of applicable experience, an MS Degree and 12 years of applicable experience, or a PhD Degree and 9 years of applicable experience
  • Either a working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes; experience operating SVs or working knowledge of and/or application of aerospace engineering principles

  • Experience with Agile or SAFe development

  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems thinking mindset

  • Must have US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active or current TS/SCI clearance

  • Experience in systems engineering principles and processes to include system level design definition and requirements analysis, definition, and decomposition

  • Familiarity with space ground software and operations

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML), concepts and tools (such as Cameo)Differentiating characteristics include: demonstrated leadership and teamwork capability, interpersonal communication skills and activities (professional/community/extracurricular) and an enthusiastic go getter attitude

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers


Salary Range: $156,000 USD - $234,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
