We are currently seeking a Global Supply Chain Director 1 to lead and provide strategic direction to our Supply Chain organization for the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) Strategic Capture program, located in Huntsville, AL with travel to Chandler, AZ.

Job Summary

  • Lead, build & manage a team of Supply Chain professionals, including but not limited to Subcontract Managers, Material Analysts, Subcontract Program Managers and Material Program Managers within the Launch Vehicles Business Unit (BU).  Budget and performance management of the Global Supply Chain team is essential to the success of this strategic capture.
  • Position will be reporting to the Sr Director of Global Supply Chain for the Launch and Missile Defense Systems Division, with dotted line reporting to the NGI program VP.  Position location is Huntsville, AL with significant travel to Chandler, AZ.
  • Lead GSC strategy and develop metrics with a growth mindset for a hardware rich,  design/development environment.
  • This position will be responsible for evaluating and managing the supply chain structure, defining the future structure needed to sustain the program through development and into production, and integrating the program SCM strategy with the Division strategy. Primary responsibility to ensure supply base meets market competitive prices, schedules/technical requirements, and quality on all supplied materials for the program.
  • Viewed as an expert in Global Supply Chain best practices, you will be called upon to lead and develop unique responses to complex business challenges. By taking ownership of total supplier performance and efficient GSC procedures, you will coordinate and lead a team in all aspects of GSC content. Knowledge of government contracting protocols (FAR/DFAR) required, including resourcefulness to seek guidance from legal counsel as required. Understanding of accounting and finance basics, including ability to construct milestone payment plans that balance cash flow; price analysis; Termination Liability; EVMS; Variance Analysis; and Liquidated Damages. Experience with Statement of Work preparation; Fixed Price (FP); Cost Reimbursable (CP) knowledge required. 
  • Responsible to provide major subcontract oversight including analysis & evaluation of subcontracting opportunities, negotiations, developing/maintaining strategic alliances, development and modification of subcontract provisions, applicability of complex flow-down requirements, source selection strategies and contractual management.
  • As the Global Supply Chain Director, you must be able to identify early warning signs, gather information and develop executive action plans to address supplier issues. By building trust with your suppliers you will gain access to information and will conduct the necessary discussions in confidence with your suppliers and convey a balanced perspective to your internal customers to resolve or mitigate execution concerns. Must ensure coordination with technical POCs as required, communicating, influencing, and motivating others, using creative thinking and encouraging teamwork.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems and interactions.
  • Utilize continuous improvement tools such as PES and/or lean Six Sigma.
  • Ensure full compliance with Government purchasing requirements/regulations and Northrop Grumman policy.
  • Have the ability to work across Division, Sector, and/or the Enterprise lines to enhance supplier performance, leverage buying power and build best practices into strategy.
  • Responsible for supporting proposals including acquisition strategy and early subcontractor selection, in concert with Product Lines, Mission Assurance, Engineering and Business Development
  • Act as liaison internally with Operations, Program, and Contract management regarding all subcontract matters as well as being the primary escalation point for subcontractors.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in Supply Chain Management or Business-related field and/or with 15 years or more in subcontracts, Supply Chain Management ,
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in supply chain or related field
  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement program certification
  • Possess relevant experience in source selection and management of complex DoD subcontracts combined with a successful track record of working in high pressure, short schedule environments
  • Well versed with FAR, DFARs and other DoD regulations.
  • Possess strong negotiation skills, strong analytical thinker and problem solver, and possess a keen sense of customer focus.
  • Strong executive communications skills and reporting experience combined with excellent computer skills.
  • Understanding of EV, ERP, MRP Systems including inventory management, resource and flow planning and tracking
  • Project Management and/or Program Management skills.
  • US Citizenship is required for a DoD Secret clearance. Position requires ability to obtain clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration-related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and growing teams and shaping a performing culture
  • Demonstrated success in managing large, complex programs and/or organizations

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $163,800 USD - $245,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
