Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Supply Chain Planning Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The person in this role will act as the Shipping & Receiving Lead for the team. This position is located in El Segundo, CA.

  • 1st shift, 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off! 
  • Position is in-office, unable to accommodate a telecommute/hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will be an extension of management and expected to support leadership decisions, and flow down decisions and information to team.
  • Expected to demonstrate our Leadership Characteristics and set an example for others.
  • Provide guidance, hands-on just in time training and daily oversight on work task for internal and external customers.
  • Monitors the operation duties of shipping & receiving, and may have to step in and perform the duties as needed.

Essential Functions:


  • Performs manual and clerical shipping duties.
  • Will be required to attend meetings, status leadership and make executive decisions when forecasting upcoming work
  • Performs a range of activities to prepare nonstandard items for shipment including routine crating and packing to the preparation of non-standard crates and boxes.
  • Determines packaging requirements from specifications, blueprints, oral instructions, or knowledge of materials to be shipped and shipping conditions.
  • May coordinate loading or unloading of unusual items requiring special handling techniques.
  • May prepare materials such as parts, assemblies, and tooling for special shipment.
  • Uses standard hand and power wood working tools, banding equipment and heavy duty equipment
  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting.
  • (Un)packs or (un)wraps items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc. Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations.


  • Load, unload material/parts from trucks by hand or utilizing a forklift
  • Verifies and log part/materials in system
  • Generate transactions and documents per receiving process
  • Logs damage & lost items of shipments

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with a HS diploma, 6 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years of experience with a master’s degree. Experience must be in supply chain, procurement, logistics, shipping and receiving, or another relevant field.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Power Point.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have developed organizational skills and the ability to handle multi-tasking.
  • Self-motivated and able to work as a teammate and independently.
  • Ability to perform 50% desk work and 50% production floor integration responsibilities with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Active DOD Secret Clearance and Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (after starting).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.
  • Experience with ERP system, specifically SAP desired.
  • Experience in Aerospace Manufacturing.
  • MES Program Experience.
  • Experience working knowledge in production planning process.
  • Working knowledge with Total Quality Management and/or, Procurement, and/or Supplier Quality Assurance.

Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
