AMERICA IRAD has an opening for a Staff Computer System Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The selected candidate will apply system architecture leadership regarding the design, development and analysis of next generation digital Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar systems. Key responsibilities include the design, development and management of real-time systems, networks, cyber security, data management, documentation, training, and system accreditation on multi-core servers and distributed systems. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Essential Functions:

* Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with customers and subject matter experts in the planning, design, development, and utilization of new innovative capabilities.

* Propose and develop solutions in support of NG Space System IRAD’s and contracts.

* Design and develop creative solutions to critical problems in the Missile Defense space.

* Use Atlassian tools to track, document, and manage work (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc).

* Contribute to high quality development output using agile methodologies, working in cross-functional teams.

* Work closely and collaboratively with like-minded professionals to solve problems and produce value for stakeholders.

* Lead in Daily Agile SCRUM meetings and supporting Bi-weekly SCRUM Cadence meetings.

* Design and define system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. 

* Determine systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. 

* Coordinate design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. 

* Develop and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.

Basic Qualifications: 

* Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 14 years of aerospace, defense, or other product development industry experience; OR Master’s Degree in STEM with 12 years of aerospace, defense, or other product development industry experience; OR PhD in STEM with 9 years of aerospace, defense, or other product development industry experience.

* Active DoD Secret Clearance

* Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. 

* Problem Solving: Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. 

* Discretion/Latitude: Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior.

* Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and effect the image of the organization technological capability. 

* Liaison: Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

* Understanding of radar systems, hardware and capabilities 

* Experience leading engineering activities, including identifying, planning and executing required activities across a matrixed, multi-functional team without being given clear direction

* Experience working in an Agile Team environment

* Experience in working in a controlled development environment with strong version and configuration management control.

* Experience facilitating and participating in process improvement efforts

* Excellent communication skills

* 15+ years’ experience with managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux installs to include

o Installing custom OS configuration onto bare-metal systems

o Applying DISA STIG configuration settings

o Managing custom software installations via RPM / Yum

* Integrating custom hardware components into servers

* Working knowledge of networking design and implementation such as subnet design, multicast implementations, bandwidth analysis, etc.

* Experience installing physical servers into datacenter racks

* Experience establishing accredited classified networks in DoD contractor spaces

Salary Range: $141,800 USD - $212,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
