Principal Systems Administrator/Senior Principal Systems Administrator 

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems, which protect our nation. Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an opening for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals who embrace change and continuously drive innovation. This position will be located at Colorado Springs, CO.

The successful candidate will be collaborative and team-oriented with a focus on efficiency, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. The individual shall contribute towards the standup and optimization of a software factory for use by development teams.

Job Description:

* Works in an agile based team consisting of systems administrators, systems engineers, hardware engineers, cyber engineers, and software engineers

* Install, troubleshoot, update/patch, and maintain multiple Linux environments, lab assets, and IT infrastructure.

* Sustain operational uptime on Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows systems and provide daily support for hardware and software issues, data recovery, system upgrades, software upgrades, and configuration issues

* Performs installation of hardware systems from bare metal including racking, cabling, powering, initializing systems

* Supports the integration and test of hardware and software subsystems

* Recommends and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management

* Creates and maintains system technical documentation

* Performs backups and recovery as required

* Experience with software development (Java/JavaScript, C++, C#, or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycle

* Experience with build tools and/or continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins)

* Ability to develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts in Ansible, Terraform, and Helm formats

Preferred Skills:

* Experience with concepts such as micro-services (including scalability best practices), containers, and container orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes

* Knowledge of Virtualized Environments, including architecture, creation, deployment, and management of VMs

* Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Confluence, JIRA)

* Experience with automation/configuration management

* Experience with developing formal builds within the DoD industry

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below 

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal System Administrator or Senior Principal System Administrator Level.

Principal Systems Administrator: 

* Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience from an accredited college or a Master's degree and 4 years of related experience. 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

* Active SECRET clearance required to start

* Experienced Linux System Administration

* Must have Security+ with Continuing Education or equivalent certification under DoD 8570.01-M

Senior Principal Systems Administrator:

* Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience from an accredited college or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience. 14 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

* Active SECRET clearance required to start

* Experienced Linux System Administration for Red Hat with Red Hat Certified System Administrator or no less than 5 years’ experience

* Experience with RSA multifactor authentication, Splunk, IPA, and Ansible

* Good communication skills

* Must have Security+ with Continuing Education or equivalent certification under DoD 8570.01-M

Preferred Qualifications:

* Demonstrated understanding of and experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware within a virtualized environment

* Experience with networking; cisco equipment and SNMP


Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
