Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

This position requires outstanding written and oral communications skills. Individual must be able to work under only general direction to determine and develop approaches to solutions; must be able to work both within a team environment and independently; must be self-motivated, thorough, and detailed; and must be willing to learn additional engineering discipline areas. Supports all program aspects from planning activities, program meetings, organizational staffing activities, technical mentoring/training activities (systems engineering, software/systems integration, software/systems test, product delivery/deployment processes, development of effective customer interaction), as well as the program Risk Management activities and process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and publishes Integrated Test Plan, detailed test plans, test schedules, and test procedures for developmental testing
  • Provides laboratory support for integration testing
  • Supports test planning working groups
  • Interfaces with test article design and analysis teams to define test configuration and data requirements
  • Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program
  • Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations
  • Supports test card development and review in collaboration with other engineering disciplines and test operations personnel
  • Supports test readiness reviews, and pre/post-test briefings
  • Conducts and contributes to pre and post-test data analyses to support anomaly identification and resolution
  • Maintains metrics on status of testing and constraints.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree AND 9 years of related experience OR Master’s of Science Degree AND 7 years of related experience OR PhD AND 4 years of related experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD interim Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Must possess certification as required by DoD Directive 8570 for an IASAE Level II Position (CASP+ CE, CISSP (or Associate), CSSLP)
  • Must have knowledge of test engineering principles and concepts
  • Must have direct experience with DoD Cyber test activities, security processes, and documentation/reporting using RMF, DIACAP, NIST, CNSSI, or NISPOM guidance as required
  • Must possess familiarity/knowledge of both Windows and UNIX/Linux based platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in documenting the security posture of a system and reporting on security controls assigned to the system
  • Experience validating security assessments and reviews
  • Experience submitting ongoing authorization inputs and artifacts to support authorizing authority’s ongoing assessment and authorization decisions
  • Experience using assessment tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Nessus scan engine, Nmap, Wireshark,
  • Experience using and working with fundamental information technology principles, concepts and techniques to including software languages, design concepts, test methods, and integration practices
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (NIST SP 800-53)
  • Experience in the analysis and implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) controls
  • Experience using Security Compliance Checker (SCC) and STIG Viewer tools
  • Extensive experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux based platforms
  • Experience with the application of the RMF to the DoD (DoDi 8500.01 Cybersecurity).
  • Experience with the application of NIST 800-171 (Controlled Unclassified Information).
  • Ability to understand and apply company methodologies, standard, and policies
  • Experience submitting ongoing authorization inputs and artifacts to support certifying authority’s ongoing authorization decisions to operate and test decisions
  • Experience performing moderately complex security information technology tasks independently

Salary Range: $119,400 USD - $179,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
