Northrop Grumman Space Components Business Unit designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

Northrop Grumman Space Components has an opening for a Principal/Manufacturing Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA. for 1st shift.

A Manufacturing Analyst supports Program Schedules, Master Scheduling, On Time Delivery, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning, manufacturing, scheduling, and material management. Provides status of hardware of assigned Programs throughout the manufacturing process, to delivery of hardware to internal and/or external customers, Additionally, advises management and value stream leaders of material availability status and production problems. Analyzes risks to identified solutions, bottlenecks, including forward and reverse scheduling methods, for schedule recovery. Candidates are generally experienced in one or more areas of manufacturing operations.

 

The selected candidate will support the planning department, master scheduling, a value stream, and process centers in a team-based manufacturing environment. They will move WIP (Work In Progress) to and from process centers and expedites parts through different manufacturing areas to support on time delivery. The position may require an individual to be on your feet for an extended period of time.

This position may be filled at a Manufacturing Analyst or Principal Manufacturing Analyst depending on the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications:

Manufacturing Analyst - Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or defense industry or Master’s Degree with 1 year of experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or defense industry. Or an additional 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Principal Manufacturing Analyst - Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or defense industry or Master’s Degree with 4 years of experience in an aerospace, manufacturing, or defense industry. Or an 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of scheduling, manufacturing, inventory, production, procurement, and quality principals.

  • Ability to read technical data i.e., blueprints, schematics, bill of materials, manufacturing plans and other documents.

  • The successful candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, presentation, problem resolution, and process improvement skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of composites (i.e., layup, assembly, and/or machining experience).

  • Facilitates team/program meetings to support on time delivery and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.

  • The ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders through organized processes to ensure that program information is defined, collected, shared, understood, stored, and retrieved in a manner that effectively meets program and stakeholder needs.

  • Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.


Salary Range: $68,100 USD - $102,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
