Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager of Machining Manufacturing 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate will support fabrication and manage a program or a function within the larger organizational unit, setting and operating to objectives and providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives and company policy. 

You will be responsible for managing supervision, direct and indirect employees in your daily tasks to support the manufacturing and processing of product for all programs.  You will drive initiatives to develop and improve skills of employees in the cost center. This includes leadership team development to support succession planning. Engage in community outreach to foster skills improvement through educational partnerships.

 

You will coordinate work load in all manufacturing facilities to deliver value and ensure schedules of customer base are met. Attend status meetings with customers to ensure open communication and problem resolution. You’ll support producibility initiatives to foster new business development. You will work with program SPMs to support Make Buy decisions. You’ll work with manufacturing and process suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and ensure successful delivery of hardware. Positive engagement will be required with all support organizations to get product to support all manufacturing and process functions and sustain business operations. You’ll coordinate and manage single operation process offload to outside vendors. You’ll develop and manage process improvement initiatives to improve performance and reduce cost. You should be technically diverse in disciplines of manufacturing and assembly. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma /equivalent with 8 years’ experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, maintenance and/or related environment; additional education may be considered in lieu of experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience

  • A current and active DoD Secret security clearance with a periodic re-investigation OR an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years

  • The ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

  • Must be available to work any shift

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Special Program Access

  • Experience working in large scale machine shop

  • Previous Supervisory and Management experience in managing large projects, with an emphasis on tooling, manufacturing, assembly lines, and implementing technology into a production environment

  • Aerospace or Aviation Industry experience managing tool fabrication organizations & tool fabrication shops, & material procurement

  • Candidates should have strong Project Management, Microsoft Office tools, Communication, and Presentation Skills


Salary Range: $128,400 USD - $192,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
