We are looking for you to join our team as a NX CADD DRAFTER based out of Sunnyvale, CA. In this role at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide Hardware Engineering Organization. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, Agile practices and robust engineering, we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter.

What you’ll get to do:

This position focuses on developing solid models and engineering drawings within the Sunnyvale Marine Hardware Engineering Department. Primary responsibilities include developing solid models and drawings using NX with Teamcenter; develop complex mechanical 2D/3D layouts, executing engineering changes to revise existing models, drawings and electronic images.

The drafting group is a represented team (union). This is a full time onsite position.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Plan and prepare design disclosure solid models, layouts and engineering drawings.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all detail drawings made from layout will describe parts that will go together into a complete assembly.
  • Check military and commercial layouts and working drawings for accuracy and conformance to national drafting standards
  • Check own work for accuracy and completeness.

Basic Qualifications:

  • AA degree in drafting from a college or advanced technical training, or its equivalent in experience.
  • Proficient in NX11 +, with 2000 hours minimum of NX CAD software modeling experience. CREO experience a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge and understanding of GD&T, and Drawing/Drafting Standards such as ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5, and MIL-SPEC.
  • Incorporate design intent into the solid model by managing parent/child relationships; assigning functional relations; using simplified reps or similar functions to control designs.
  • Must be able to read and understand a 2D drawing, and visualize in a 3D environment.
  • Have thorough understanding of Top Down-Designing.
  • Knowledgeable with Engineering process, and document configuration control
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of machine design such as casting, forging, welding, brazing, and machining.
  • Strong, effective communication skills
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • May require a Secret government security clearance

Evaluation

  • Must take a GD&T evaluation exam
  • Must take a NX modeling evaluation exam
