Associate Project Manager/ Project Manager – Commerce, CA

Northrop Grumman's Program Management organization within Payload and Ground Systems is seeking a Pricing Analyst to join our team of professionals in Commerce, CA.

This position may be filled as either an Associate Project Manager (Level 1) or a Project Manager (Level 2).

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as a liaison between project management, planning, engineering, and line management
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with the integrated product team
  • Lead/supports proposal activities of diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement and collaboration with other team members
  • Reviews and analyzes DRFP/ RFP/Change Orders to determine/develop the costing requirements and goals
  • Organizes and estimates initial ROM, BPEs, or cost targets for medium/large efforts
  • Foresees and identifies potential problems (understands impacts to other areas)
  • Reviews Task Description/Basis of Estimate for compliance and adherence to the program or capture plan (analogous, parametric, CERs and engineering estimates)
  • Develops compliant estimates and cost volumes according to company and Government policies and procedures
  • Participates in should-cost and pricing reviews with management
  • Supports customer fact finding, updates, and corrective actions
  • Supports Customer/Government Audit on a periodic basis
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity and process improvement
  • Offers assistance to co-workers and recognizes when work can be shared to better meet deadlines/goals

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Project Manager (Level 1): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, OR 4 years of additional experience in Project Management, Business Management, Financial Analysis, Contract Management, Supply Chain Management, Proposal, Pricing/Estimating, or Auditing in lieu of degree
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task when there are competing demands on you
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership, shop floor employees, and support function employees
  • Proven experience with constant communication in a quickly changing environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • U.S. Citizenship is a bona fide requirement

Basic Qualification for a Project Manager:

  • Same as above, but with 3 years of combined experience in Project Management, Business Management, Financial Analysis, Contract Management, Supply Chain Management, Proposal, Pricing/Estimating, Auditing OR Master’s Degree with one year of combined experience in Project Management, Business Management, Financial Analysis, Contract Management, Supply Chain Management, Proposal, Pricing/Estimating, Auditing experience, OR additional 4 years’ experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to use/modify automation tools for the overall Pricing and Estimating team to minimize required administrative tasking and focus on estimating and analysis
  • Degree or some prior experience/background in quantitative study or field (e.g. econometrics, quantitative finance, statistics, applied or theoretical math, data science or machine learning)
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Persistence and tenacity to meet deadlines in a challenging, multi-tasking environment

Salary Range: $58,000 USD - $725,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $70,200 USD - $87,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
