We have an opening for a Manager of Systems Engineering to join our qualified, diverse team. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will lead and support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you’ll get to do?

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This position is the lead role for the Sites group. This is the group that oversees construction of physical facilities around the world supporting subcontractors 13.5meter antennas as well as the NG interface racks. This requires oversight of the civils construction of numerous sites as well as installation & test of sophisticated electronics equipment. The responsibilities of this position are among the most visible and important to our customer in the current phase of the contract.

Redondo Beach based lead role:

  • Better support to program and organizational goals

  • Oversees employees from across the organization (staff from across multiple sites)

  • Better interfacing and getting support from Redondo Beach based functional organization

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for daily operations of the Site Leads (supervision of the Site Lead staff)

  • Frequent interaction with often difficult and critical customer

  • Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates using mgmt guidelines & general policies

  • Accomplishes results through senior experienced exempt employees (Site Leads) who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.

  • Schedules site visits, design reviews, test events

  • Handles day to day workflow of team

  • Oversees technical trade studies

  • Operating costs including managing hours and travel

  • Insures full integration of our Civils Engineering SME into all work and decisions

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree with 6 years’ experience

  • Active TS security clearance

  • Direct experience with planning and coordinating cost, schedule, and performance demands

  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of the Earn Value Management System

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams

Preferred Qualification 

  • Experience working with equivalent level managers and customer representatives concerning site civil engineering work.

  • Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

  • Experience in working in Agile environment – Program Management Professional a plus


Salary Range: $101,800 USD - $152,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
