Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Mgr Project Management 2 support the Mission Readiness and Protective Systems Business Unit (MRPS BU) as the Operations Manager to the BUVP.  The BU has multiple key strategic competitive and sole source captures and programs (as well as division and sector level priority pursuits. This position is located in Orlando, FL.

The individual selected will support the BU’s leadership team and programs in successful execution and services to the customer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of BU operations – including staff and leadership meetings, BU Reviews, town halls and leadership forums, project reviews, customer visits, international trips, etc., run smoothly.
  • Prepare BU VP and OU Directors as appropriate for all meetings and trips with relevant information/materials. 
  • Develop and implement required monthly/quarterly reporting.
  • Support the BU Leadership Team and BU VP on the financial and non-financial metrics and Operation Objectives. 
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to BU VP/OU Directors and the leadership team.
  • Identification, distribution, tracking, and completion of program/OU/BU requirements.
  • Development and adherence to master plans and schedules.
  • Operate in an ambiguous environment; figure out the best ways to address a task or issue.
  • Be strategic; identify areas where something needs to be done but is not in a particular swim lane; connect dots between areas/functions.
  • Think ahead to anticipate potential challenges; ensure challenges are addressed in advance and create a contingency plan.
  • Collaborate with the Division Leadership Team (DLT) and possess the ability to influence without direct authority to produce results/outcomes. 
  • Perform special projects as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of DoD or government contracting experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time).
  • Business Acumen: The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance.
  • Issue & Problem Resolution: The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves conflicts across all levels of the program.
  • Resources: The ability to plan for, identify, estimate, cost, acquire, schedule, and retire resources needed to satisfy program requirements within organizational constraints.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or management discipline with a minimum of 8 years of DoD, engineering, or program management experience
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, planning, and presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships with others
  • Ability to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of company and sector operations, policies, procedures and command media
  • Experience with operations and the management of programs using the Program Execution Framework
  • The ability to balance and influence multiple competing priorities and individuals

Salary Range: $102,500 USD - $153,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
