Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has a unique opportunity with major impact as a Manager Programs 3 - Future Programs Capture.  We are looking for an innovative go-getter and are willing to be flexible on the location.  Ideally we’d like this position to be located at the Melbourne, Florida or Rancho Bernardo, California site but are also open to the D.C area and others (for the right person).

The Capture Manager is the leader of proposal team and is responsible for gathering business intelligence and turning that data into actionable items for the pursuit.  They are responsible for assembling the pursuit team, leading them through the understanding of the goals of the opportunity, and the development of a solution that addresses the customer’s needs in a compelling and differentiating way.   Directing all phases of the capture process starting with opportunity identification to proposal delivery, the capture manager is responsible for customer engagement, establishment of the capture plan and win strategy, pursuit decision, and creation of the proposal team at which point the capture manager will work closely with the proposal manager to execute and deliver the finished proposal.

Responsibilities:

  • New opportunity identification, management, and proposal execution.
  • Customer relationship building and stewardship
  • Industry, customer, competitor, and self-analysis of strengths and weaknesses to create of win strategy for an opportunity
  • Develops capture strategy, identifies actions needed for implementation, and leads effort through entire sales lifecycle
  • Manages and directs all associated business functions through the capture process.
  • Work across all teams to develop solutions to ensure customer requirements are addressed and met.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% at times, mostly for customer engagement (domestically and internationally)

Basic Qualifications (Must Have's):

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years, or Master’s and 7+ years of experience, and experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
  • Demonstrated analytical, reasoning, planning and problem-solving abilities
  • Must have experience on major aircraft capture
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating technical information to non-technical and technical customers, as well as how core technologies translate into customers’ critical capabilities
  • Active DoD Secret and ability to obtain TS /SCI Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
  • Must be able to travel Internationally under current COVID restrictions and beyond (e.g. must be able to obtain a passport and VISA if required; must have appropriate vaccinations to enter and conduct business Internationally without excessive quarantine)

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have's):

  • Experience as the capture manager on a major aircraft campaign or program capture
  • Experience in aircraft design
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, record-keeping, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Established history of successful program captures
  • Established history with relevant customer communities
  • Active DoD Top Secret and/or SCI Clearance

This position reports to Melbourne, FL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from San Diego, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $256,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
