About Your Opportunity:

The role of the Behavioural Scientist is to support the delivery of Human Factors projects and opportunities by applying behavioural / social science knowledge and expertise. This involves working with customer, Northrop Grumman and supplier staff to develop, implement and assess project outputs and outcomes that utilise sound behavioural / social science methodologies and techniques. The role will contribute directly to project delivery and also input to business development activities such as bids, proposals, white papers, etc.

  • Work with project leads to ensure Human Factors Account successes are actively identified and celebrated (both teams and individuals).
  • Share collective responsibility for the attraction and retention of staff while recognising boundaries within other roles, such as Line Manager and Discipline Leads.
  • Remain compliant with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Act as a role model, exhibiting NG’s values at all times.
  • Act as a Northrop Grumman Brand Ambassador.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide behavioural science advice, guidance and expertise to defined Human Factors projects.       Commission, guide and assess research in the areas of audience analysis, technical method development and sensory methods (Measures of Performance).
  • Act as the nascent Behavioural Science Subject Matter Expert within Northrop Grumman in the United Kingdom. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering outputs and outcomes directly to customers.
  • Establish and maintain productive and credible relationships with customer and supplier staff including other analysis / behavioural scientists.
  • Excellent communicator who can provide clear and concise messaging both externally to clients and internally within Northrop Grumman demonstrating excellent problem solving, influencing, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Consultative client relationship building and management skills and adept at dealing with competing priorities and deadlines level.

Your Experience:

  • Degree or higher in Life Science based subject. Postgraduate in Behavioural Science/ Psychology or similar. Strong interest in geo-politics,
  • Strong statistical background with good written and oral communication skills. These are essential as is an ability to form collaborative relationships and build effective networks.
  • Be comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and want to work with unique customers on missions that make a real difference.  Critical thinking skills and demonstrated ability to present.
  • Build corporate capacity on behavioural science and be willing to mentor and teach behavioural principles to broader organisation.  Effective collaboration skills to partner effectively with managers, scientists, researchers, and others and building and maintaining these relationships with colleagues located remotely.
  • An individual that is passionate about delivery excellence, and continuous improvement and to solve our clients’ most complex mission challenges.  A collaborative individual with the confidence and integrity to earn customer and internal stakeholders’ confidence.

  • Utilise your strong stakeholder relationships to exercise growth, knowledge transfer and explore new areas of opportunity to allow NG to expand its business.
  • Solve problems through out of the box thinking while applying best practice and rigour.
  • Work closely with NG and a supply chain of SMEs to enable best practices and innovative delivery techniques and technology usage.
