Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Research and Development Engineer doing algorithm development based out of Boulder, CO. You will be responsible for researching and identifying complex, multi-disciplinary problems, breaking into software components, and designing and implementing algorithm solutions. Work will include planning and executing team projects, developing prototypes and customer demonstrations; in addition to analyzing algorithm, subsystems, and interface performance. You are expected to communicate technical information effectively and clearly, present technical approaches and findings, and report status to colleagues including customers and program management as a technical point of contact.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops innovated approaches across a diverse suite of algorithms in a rapid prototyping environment
  • Software and tool development using C++, C in a spiral development framework
  • Coordinates with software and test teams to perform integration and resolve defects with improvement recommendations
  • Drives the engineering process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their program

Basic Qualifications:

  • Software algorithm development experience for complex, mathematically intensive systems
  • Experience with Linux
  • C++, C development experience
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Math or related discipline with 5 years of related experience; 3 years of related experience with a Masters; 0 years of related experience with a PhD
  • Must possess a DoD secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Focus in optimal estimation and multiple-model state estimation
  • Strong statistical analysis background
  • Experience with advanced data visualization
  • Experience with signal or image processing
  • Experience with target tracking
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB Java, FORTRAN, or system modeling
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance that is or has been active within the last two years
  • Experience with DevOps and/or Agile Development
  • Ability to travel on occasion (10% max) to Northrop Grumman and customer locations
  • Machine learning experience

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
