Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Associate Data Engineer/Data Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position may be located in Melbourne, FL or Palmdale, CA.

Works in a variety of settings to build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for data scientists and business analysts to interpret. Their goal is to make data accessible so that organizations can use it to evaluate and optimize their performance. Designs, builds and oversees the deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions and software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources. Establishes and builds processes and structures based on business and technical requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route appropriately and store using any combination of distributed (cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage forms as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain a scalable ETL pipeline

  • Data preparation/cleaning, integration, and automation from heterogeneous sources

  • Ensure data integrity and system availability

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend core technologies and strategies

  • Monitor and optimize system performance

  • Decomposition of user requirements into logical functions/components

This position may be filled at a Level 1 or Level 2.

Basic Qualifications for Associate Data Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and 0 years of experience in Data Engineering

  • Experience working in ETL Techniques and Frameworks

  • Experience utilizing Python, C#, SQL, SSIS or similar

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)

Basic Qualifications for Data Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 2 years of experience in Data Engineering OR Master's degree in a STEM field with 0 years of experience

  • Experience working with ETL techniques and frameworks

  • Experience with integration of data from multiple sources

  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Python, C#, SQL, SSIS OR similar

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)

Preferred Qualifications for Associate Data Engineer:

  • Experience with integration of data from multiple sources

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)

  • Experience in Agile Software Development

  • Active DoD in-scope security clearance

Preferred Qualifications for Data Engineer:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field with relevant Data Engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience working with ETL techniques and frameworks

  • Expert in Python, C#, SQL, SSIS, and data visualization tools

  • Development experience utilizing Hadoop, Spark, PowerShell, and automation scripts

  • Experience with Agile Software Development

  • Active in-scope DoD security clearance

This position reports to Melbourne, FL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Palmdale, CA, CA, USA.

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $58,800 USD - $88,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
