SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

As a member of the Electronics, Assembly & Test team, the selected candidate will perform a variety of Mechanical Technician tasks such as soldering; solder coating parts, component attachment and wiring applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in interpreting schematics/blueprints and experience in soldering and wiring electronic assemblies.

The selected candidate must thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations. This person must exhibit high levels of communication and teamwork. Candidate must have experience working on diverse assignments in collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, hardware designers, and test engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent and 4 years of experience

  • Experience in J-STD soldering and wiring routing.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an SCI Clearance or DoD Top Security

  • Experience working from one or more of the following: blueprints, schematics or engineering related drawings including work instructions.

  • Ensure a consistent, high quality product worthy of space flight product production

  • Must be available and willing to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to work a 2nd shift schedule when needed

Preferred Qualifications:          

  • Able to wear safety gear such as gloves and goggles

  • Four years of working in the Aerospace industry.

  • Ability to handle and assemble small components

  • Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks simultaneously to accomplish the project result

  • Ability to apply quality control parameters to produce the highest quality hardware

  • Strong sense of personal accountability and integrity

  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels in organization

  • Experience soldering fine pitched leaded devices.

  • Capable of performing J Standard soldering operations

This position reports to Manhattan Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Redondo Beach, CA, CA, USA.

Salary Range: $61,700 USD - $102,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
