Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Military Trainer – Contractor Point of Contact (CONPOC) - Exercise Planner to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas.  The selected candidate will provide consulting expertise to military or defense clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine.  The Military Trainer leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing some or all phases of military training exercises, including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after action review (AAR) and analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides consulting expertise to military clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine

  • Acts as primary Exercise Support Division (ESD) Work Area Contractor Point of Contact (CONPOC) teach/coach/mentor

  • Captures, records, maintains, and updates all changes for ESD Team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Create streamline processes for CONPOC/APOCs to function and incorporate into the CONPOC SOP

  • Provide guidance to ESD and Headquarters Support Team (HST) personnel (WAC/CONPOCS) regarding all exercise design related issues

  • Ensure timely writing, publishing, and delivery of Trip Reports for Exercise Life Cycle Events Contract Deliverables (CDRL)

  • Ensure all deliverables meet suspense dates while retaining highest quality by the team

  • Review CDRL products for format and content quality prior to review by ESD Chief

  • Understand and be able to perform function of an Exercise Support Manning and Equipment Document (ESMED) Manager

  • Attend changing and emerging doctrine and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) meetings (R&W/A, WFX special interests, etc.)

  • Submit reports regarding discussion points, impact on operations, timelines, etc.

  • Ensure CONPOC/APOCs maintain habitual relationship with other Operations Group’s (OPSGRP’s) Analysts and Points of Contact (POC)

  • Coach the ESD Assistant Contractor Point of Contact (APOC) Simulation Control Plan (SCP) coordination with the Lead Operations Group in the development of Simulation Control Plans

  • Work with other Divisions within Headquarters Support Team (HST) to develop SCP room builds and determine equipment and personnel needs for each exercise

  • Conduct duties of Work Area Commander when required

  • Prepare computer simulations using exercise scenario and command and control graphics

  • Prepare computer simulation by placing assigned units into doctrinal formations, situated to the terrain and in a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario

  • Ensure the initial manning requirements for the initial Exercise Planning Travel Management System (EPTMS) setup/programming are performed

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience

  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas

  • Must be able to deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

Salary Range: $67,800 USD - $101,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
