Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for an Administrative Assistant - 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.


This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4

The successful candidate will be a vital member of the team and perform in an administrative leadership role.  This position is performing office functions such as setting up and maintaining files; screening  callers and making proper referrals; arranging meetings and conferences; and responding to email in a timely manner. Assists with all written and verbal communication to various levels of the organization; answers questions relating to office operations and establishes policies and procedures. Gathers, compiles and reports on information relevant to supervisor’s assignment. 

Essential functions consist of (but not limited to):

  • Maintain professional demeanor and act with integrity with all levels of the organization

  • Provide support to leadership and team to gather or convey relevant information

  • Maintain busy and dynamic calendars for multiple staff members and coordinate meetings, including customer visits, over a variety of locations and facilities

  • Responsible for maintaining director’s schedule and coordinating management meetings

  • Coordinating calendars, travel arrangements, expense reports and all forms of correspondence

  • Plan and provide logistical support to leadership and the leadership team, including scheduling internal and external meetings, coordinating lunch and lunch meetings, and coordinating special events

  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite for communications, reporting, presentations and other various tasks (i.e. mail merges, VLOOKUP, coordinate calendars and meetings, assembling presentations, documenting processes and knowledge sharing)

  • Procure material and supplies to support organization using corporate card and internal purchasing systems

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot and work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to be an exceptional team player, interface well at all levels in the organization

  • Ability to be collaborative, proactive, self-motivated, well-organized, detail oriented, and assertive as necessary and able to execute projects and tasks independently

  • Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) required

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an administrative assistant or performing administrative related work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint)

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI Access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR Department of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.  

Basic Qualifications for a level 4:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) required

  • Minimum 6 years of experience as an administrative assistant or performing administrative related work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint)

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI Access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR Department of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to exercise good judgment while demonstrating flexibility and agility, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines, managing schedule conflicts, and providing excellent follow-through

  • Demonstrates outstanding verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman (NG) policies and procedures

  • Familiarity with NG systems (Concur, iBuy, and other NG tools)

  • Advanced proficiency in business and travel expense system (Concur, Edge, or similar) with complex, frequently changing travel

Salary Range: $51,800 - $86,400
Salary Range 2: $63,800 - $106,300
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
