Northrop Grumman SSSD is seeking an Staff, Software Engineering Lead looking to work as a member of an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) leadership team at a field site located in Alice Springs, AU.

Role Description:
The Software Engineering Lead is the technical project manager and programmatic execution lead for the local Software Engineering Department.  The Software Engineering Department is comprised of engineers with mission software applications experience and software integrator who can work in a structured, configuration controlled environment, primarily focused on the support and maintenance of real-time mission software applications. The Software Engineering Lead oversees a team that is responsible for evaluating operational software problems and providing immediate solutions to restore service.  

The Software Engineering Lead's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and lead the task execution of the Software Engineering Department personnel to include: setting performance and quality standards, support to factory installations and recaps, tool development, DR identification and tracking, anomaly resolution support   

  • Champion team members in acquiring and maintaining an operational certification and meeting Flexible Operations scheduling and proficiency requirements

  • Prioritize software engineering team tasks and resources to ensure successful execution of program delivery and installation schedules and that real-time mission availability is maximized

  • Lead and maintain the software mission applications OJT program and mentor team members to advance their technical knowledge and skill sets

  • Implement and reinforce software coding standards, best practices, processes, and policies

  • Utilize Agile processes and tools that include Jira, Confluence, and Git to manage departmental projects and tasking

  • Collaborate with factory specialists and applications developers on new installs, existing software baseline management, and DR resolutions

  • Work with the Site Operations Manager, Operations Support Department Lead and Operations Engineering Lead as part of the Operations Leadership team

The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive physical and psychological examination prior to beginning this assignment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited institution with fourteen (14) years of relevant experience; OR 12 Years with Masters; OR 9 Years with PhD.

  • Experience with C++, Java, Perl and/or Python programming languages

  • Proficiency with VMS and/or LINUX/UNIX operating systems

  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and communicate technical documentation/information, both written and orally, to a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Active Top Secret/SCI or DoD Top Secret with an SSBI and counterintelligence polygraph examination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading people, projects, or teams with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers

Salary Range: $141,800 USD - $212,800 USD
