Northrop Grumman Australia provides the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) with through-life support for its fleet of KC-30A Multi-role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft—a derivative of the Airbus A330-200. The platform is a trusted and proven asset and the program is continually growing in capability and expertise.

Part of Northrop Grumman’s Platform Stewardship responsibility is to work collaboratively with our customer to define future capability. The KC-30A Capability Development team is responsible for these activities and manages a wide range of projects varying in size and complexity.

We are now seeking applications for a suitably experienced Project Engineer to support a Cryptographic project aimed at updating and enhancing the extant system with a contemporary capability.

This role would be ideal for an Engineer / Project Management professional with Tactical Data Link / Communication Systems experience. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain and Defence (NV1) clearance – members with a current baseline clearance can be considered.

This position is located at RAAF Amberley.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing directly with the CoA customer to provide advice to internal/external stakeholders
  • Project engineering tasks including:
    • Requirements analysis and determination
    • Preparation, scheduling and monitoring of engineering & technical tasks
    • Liaising between Project Management/Engineering team members
    • Act as primary technical point of contact for the project
    • Identify engineering and technical risks
    • Providing clear and concise communications to stakeholders
  • Investigating and resolving technical issues cooperatively with the wider KC-30A Engineering community
  • Supporting project management activities through provision of timely and accurate reporting of activities and risk
  • Appropriate management of ITAR controlled data

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Project Management qualifications and/or suitable experience in a project-based environment
  • Engineering or technical qualifications in an aviation-related discipline
  • Working knowledge of Defence/Civil aviation regulations (CASA/DASA)
  • Experience working in a CAMO or CAM Services environment and/or 21J Design Organisation
  • Proficiency using project management software tools
  • Experience working on time critical projects and adherence to strict deadlines
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders both locally and abroad
  • Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance (NV1)

Note: As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian Citizens. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable, as such your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
