The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Department at Northrop Grumman Oceanic located in Annapolis, MD is seeking a system reliability engineer.  The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to deliver complex mechanical, electrical, and/or optical systems for use in the subsea / maritime environment.  In this position you will perform functions such as the following:

  • Apply reliability centered principles to help ensure the reliability and maintainability of existing, new, and modified equipment

  • Conduct a variety of Reliability analyses including predictions and  assessments, trade studies, and Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

  • Identify hardware reliability issues and collaborate to develop and implement mitigation strategies

  • Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of vendor equipment

  • Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria

  • Participate in the final checkout of new designs

  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact operations

  • Develop reliability models and reliability block diagrams

  • Foster a collaborative environment wherein individuals of diverse disciplines and backgrounds can universally contribute to successful outcomes

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Have a keen interest in working in the maritime surface / undersea domain

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

  • Have a working knowledge of mathematical probabilities, statistical analyses, component applications, and derating models, as well as be able to statistically analyze test data

  • Ability to perform reliability engineering activities including report generation

  • Experience working in a team environment to include gathering inputs from others to inform reliability predictions

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team

  • Current Top Secret clearance, and willingness to obtain an SSBI/SCI with CI polygraph


 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have experience in the design, production, or maintenance of mechanical, electrical, or optical systems

  • Have experience with Maritime / Underwater / Aerospace, or related domain hardware / software

  • Hold a current Top Secret/SSBI/SCI and CI Polygraph

  • Have experience with tools such as NX/Teamcenter/Concur/SAP

Salary Range: 119800 - 179600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
