Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks to fill the position of Operations Manager for the New Moon program, which is part of the Ground Enterprise Systems Operating Unit.  

This position will be located in Aurora, CO and will report to the New Moon Program Manager serving as a key member of the Leadership team. Working closely with the management team, the position contributes to the development and implementation of processes, organizational strategies, and practices. The New Moon Operations Manager assists the PM in a variety of NG requirements while assisting in driving the culture on the program, operational efficiency, and assists the PM in a variety of areas across the organization.
 

The successful candidate will be able to balance management of many day-to-day New Moon operational rhythm tasks while also looking to the future for opportunities to improve, streamline, and grow. This candidate will also serve as the manager for an Operations Team of less than 5 employees consisting of Resource Management, Agile Coaching, Operations Support, Data Management, and an Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate requires a solid understanding of restricted customer communities, program management skills, sufficient technical knowledge, and the ability to support strategic planning and business execution.

  • Highly developed organizational and planning skills to manage a variety of tasks
  • Expertise in prioritizing competing tasks and a proven track record of closing on tasks
  • Ability to communicate clearly and thoughtfully
  • Skills to drive clarity and accountability in team operations while also establishing positive and genuine relationships with the team.
  • Willingness to invest time listening to the New Moon program team and sharing feedback with the New Moon Program Manager regarding opportunities to improve
  • Ability to work in a self-directed  and independent fashion – a proactive attitude to identify what needs to be done rather than waiting to be told what to do


Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Manage day-to-day New Moon operational rhythm tasks
  • Support the Program manager in execution of their duties, including fill-in for PM when not they are available
  • Lead New Moon Staffing and training efforts in collaboration with program managers and all functional organizations
  • Lead capital planning process for New Moon and provide responses to all GES OU Data Calls
  • Support preparations for and/or lead internal and external program reviews as assigned throughout the program
  • Work closely with business team and ART managers on coordination for ECP submittals
  • Closely coordinate with Mission Assurance, Global Supply Chain, Business Management, Security, Information Technology and Facilities to ensure efficient program support
  • Provide direction, support, and remove roadblocks for the New Moon Operations Team
  • Work collaboratively with Agile Release Train (ART) Managers to drive accountability for strategic tasks and actions across the program
  • Drive cadences across the program for status reports and a variety of team responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate the schedule and execute the weekly Intel Session for the program
  • Support award fee process for the program
  • Serve as PMO liaison with Mission Assurance and lead team through audits, NGPro tailoring, program Preventative and Corrective Action Board (PCAB) as well as ensure program compliance with company processes, policies, and procedures
  • Improve operational efficiency of processes and practices in support of the New Moon mission across the organization and lead Project Moonrise initiative for improvements
  • Lead coordination of team milestone celebrations, engagement activities, all-hands, etc.
  • Lead regular meetings with team to discuss issues, concerns and resolution and lead efforts to improve employee engagement across the program
  • Maintain New Moon OneNote, SharePoint, and other shared resources across multiple classification systems
  • Plan and execute strategic leadership off-sites for the team as required
  • Direct development of program branding and communications materials

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus at least 8 years of engineering and/or program management-related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative management style, and a focused drive to deliver on commitments
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations implementing best practices
  •  Current Top Secret Security Clearance and SCI eligible
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of technical, cost, schedule impacts on a program
  • Understanding of business development and capture strategies
  • Familiarity with INS and GES OU business portfolio and stakeholders
  • Ability to excel when operating in a fast pace, diverse environment
  • Experiencing partnering with functional organizations to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to analyze situations from several points of view and be persuasive with data-driven details and facts

Salary Range: 134200 - 201200

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
